Boxonlucy too strong in Albany
Apr 12, 2019
Honest five-year-old Boxonlucy recorded the fifth win of her 29-start career when saluting in the Trevor Carpets Handicap (Race 3-1600m) at Albany today.
With three runners, we held a strong hand in the race and it was the well-supported Boxonlucy ($3 to $2.70) that came out on top, aided by a sweet Daniel Staeck ride.
Beginning from barrier one, the home-bred daughter of Dick Turpin enjoyed a lovely run following the leader Prince Friar in transit, and Staeck was able to angle his way out into the clear on straightening, sprinting too well for her opposition to with by a half-length.
Out of our former quality racemare Lovely Lucy, Boxonlucy has always tried hard and 17 top-three finishes illustrates her consistency and effort since beginning her career as a two-year-old back in January 2016.
She has now banked $84,090 in earnings and the way she's raced this campaign suggests there is plenty more fun to be had with her this campaign.
