Raw four-year-old Currimundi secured another photo finish victory when taking out the TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap (Race 1-1400m) at Belmont today.

Launching over the top late to win by 0.06L second up at Pinjarra on August 4, the son of Playing God won by the exact same margin this afternoon, this time hitting the front and holding off the lunging Ginger Baker.

Perfectly-ridden by stable jockey Shaun McGruddy, Currimundi ($3.60 favourite) made the most of gate one to land on the leader’s back in transit and pushed out into clear galloping room shortly after straightening, holding on gamely late to hold the topweight at bay late.

The progressive half-brother and stablemate of The Spruiker, Currimundi probably should be unbeaten in three starts this campaign, having been super stiff first up at Belmont on July 22, but is certainly a horse the stable has very high hopes for as the season progresses.
