Team Wolfe successfully bookended Belmont Newmarket Day with River Rubicon‘s Paul Taylor Handicap (Race 9-1200m) victory following on from Currimundi claiming Race 1 of the day.

Class four-year-old River Rubicon took his record to an impressive five wins from nine starts in the last of the day, ploughing through the Heavy 10 circuit to overhaul Weaponson and Strathmore Rose and salute by 0.60L.

Ridden by Shaun McGruddy, River Rubicon appeared in a bit of strife mid-race, finding himself a long way from the tearaway leading division in a strung out field. and while he was only just going on the turn the son of Rubick slipped into overdrive after angling right out to the superior part of the straight, cutting down his rivals one-by-one to win decisively.

River Rubicon, a $12,000 bargain at the 2020 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale, looks a top-liner in the making and we’re confident he’ll be significantly adding to the $220,060 in stakes and bonuses he’s already accumulated since winning on debut at Northam on September 9 last year.
