Promising three-year-old Let’sdeal stepped out for the first time since April’s WATC Derby in Heat 9 at today’s Lark Hill trials and looked nice and sharp when winning over the 950 metres.
The son of Dundeel was clicked up to stay in touch with the pace on in the early stages, but got into a lovely rhythm underneath Shaun McGruddy to be right on top of the leaders swinging for home. Balancing up in the straight, he comfortably worked over his rivals, despite a tendency to lay in under pressure (watch replay below).
Let’sdeal was highly-rated heading into the summer/autumn three-year-old features and placed third by Trix Of The Trade and stablemate Hear Me Sing in the listed Challenge Stakes (1500m) on February 12, however, he didn’t quite meet expectations when subsequently lining up in the Piper Stakes, Roberts Stakes, Melvista Stakes and WATC Derby.
The leggy and raw Let’sdeal was always going to take a bit longer to hit his straps and the stable is confident, he’ll return to racing as a four-year-old and be ready to start fulfilling some of his ample potential.
